Langtang Gosaikunda Trek

This region lies north of Kathmandu and offers several trekking destinations. Gosaikunda has holy lakes at 4300m. Thousands of Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims visit the lakes during  the festival in August. Helambu, 75 km north of Kathmandu, is the area dominated by Sherpas whose language, culture and dress differ from that of Solukhumbu Sherpas.

Day 1

Drive Kathmandu / Syabrubesi (1450 m) by local bus. (Approx. 8 hours drive)

Day 2

Trek Syabrubeshi / Lama Hotel (2480 m.) � approx. 6 to 7 hrs walk

Day 3

Lama Hotel / Langtang village (3541 m.) � approx. 5 to 6 hrs walk

Day 4

Langtang / Kyanjing Gompa (3900 m.) � approx. 3 hrs walk

Day 5

Day hiking and back to Kyanjing Gompa

Day 6

Kyanjing gompa /Ghora Tabela (2950 m) � approx. 4 to 5 hrs walk

Day 7

Ghora Tabela / Bamboo (1980 m). � approx. 4 to 5 hrs walk

Day 8

Bamboo / Thulo Syabru (2200 m) � approx. 4 to 5 hrs walk

Day 9

Thulo Syabru / Shing Gompa (3584 m) � approx. 5 to 6 hrs walk

Day 10

Shing Gompa / Gosaikunda (4381 m) � approx. 6 to 7 hrs walk

Day 11

Cross over the Laurebina pass (4600 m.) descend to Thare Pati (3600 m.) � approx. 8 hrs walk

Day 12

Thare Pati / Kutumsangu (2471 m) � approx. 6 hrs approx.

Day 13

Kutumsangu / Chisapani (2194 m) � approx. 6 to 7 hrs walk

Day 14

Chisapani / Sundarijal (approx. 3 hrs walk) and drive to Kathmandu (approx. 30 min. drive).

Nepal is an extremely diverse country for its size. The temperature here can range from extremely hot (37-40C) in the lower Terai regions, to negative temperatures in the northern, mountainous regions. Feb-May & Sept-Nov are prime trekking times due to the lovely climate. There is ample sun in the day time, and only slightly chilly at night. Monsoon (June-Aug) can get very hot and humid-with showers usually in the early morning and late afternoon.

Obviously a “YES”. There are gluts of refreshing activities like jungle safari, cultural tour, sight seeing etc. that could be an refreshing experience for children as well as adults. Moreover, trekking has been categorized as per difficulty level (easy, medium, hard) and distance (short, medium, long) that can be booked as per the age and ability of children.
