US cancels travel warning for Nepal

United States of America has canceled travel warning that it had issued for US citizens preparing to visit Nepal. “In recognition of improved conditions in Nepal, the US Department of State has cancelled the travel warning that was most recently issued on January 12,” the US Embassy in Kathmandu said in a statement on Wednesday. The US Embassy is pleased that the overall situation in Nepal has improved to such a degree that this decision could be made, the statement added. The decision is expected to increase the flow of tourists from the US to Nepal.

Everest Region Trekking

Everest region (Khumbu) – The Everest or Khumbu region is very popular trekking area in Nepal.  This region is very famous, not only for the highest mountain Everest but also for Sherpa village, monastery, flora and fauna, glaciers and water resources. Many big Glaciers and Dudh Koshi River, Bhote Koshi River flowed   from this region.

Everest Base Camp Trek is so popular because of the highest mountain in the world Mt. Everest.  The trek takes 14 days and reaches a maximum height of 5545m. at Kalapathar. Kalapathar is the best panoramic Mountain View point.

Everest Base Camp trek starts from Phakding (2840m.) and passes through Namche Bazaar. Namche Bazaar is beautiful Sherpa village.  Tengboche is popular place because of big monastery and view point.

The attractions include spectacular scenery and Sherpa people & Culture, the region where Mt. Everest (8848m.) and its attendant lesser peaks are located. We can see Kusum Kangaru, Kwongde, Thamserku (6608m.), Kangtega, Taboche ,  Cholatse , Amadablam (6856m.), Island Peak (6189m.), Mt.Lhotse (8414m.) Lobuche, Nuptse (7861m.), Mr.Pumari (7165m.) and other many mountains and small peaks.

We find many types of trees and wild life in this region. We can see Chir pine, Blue pine, Junipar, different types of rhododendron and many kinds of herbs and flowers. Probably we can see that birds are Impheyan Pheasant (national bird of Nepal), Crimson-horned Pheasant, Snow pigeon, Golden Eagle, Snow Cocks, Crow etc. and animals are musk Deer (rare animal in the world) and Himalayan Thar etc.
Note:  It is believed that Yeti lives in this region.

TIA to get new face

Taking into consideration the rapidly increasing air traffic Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal(CAAN) has come up with a master plan for the improvement and expansion of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). The plan which is to be implemented in different phases frm 2010-2023 AD, includes runway extension, installation of runway centreline lights, installation of new CAT approach lights, construction of a temporary Domestic Terminal Building, refurbishing of new parallel taxiway, construction of new international apron, new CNS equipment, installation of localizer DME Runway 02 among others.

Annapurna Region’s Visitors

The total number of trekkers visiting Annapurna Region increased by 10.67 percent to 88,418 in 2010. This is the highest number of trekkers that the region — described as one of the best trekking regions in the world – has ever received.
The region had received 79,896 trekkers in 2009. The arrivals had fallen to mere 36,000 in 2005 due to Maoist insurgency.
According to Annapurna Conservation Area Project, more than 12,000 of the total trekkers were from SAARC countries.
Annapurna Region is famous for the world famous Annapurna Circuit and more than a dozen fascinating trails. Spread over 7,000 sq km in Kaski, Mustang, Myagdi, Manang and Lamjung districts, ACAP region
offers stunning scenery and rich biodiversity. The region is home to over 3,000 species of plants and 478 species.
